The Long Canoe
Well, that was .. um.. interesting.
Canoeing, why, oh why do humans find this engagement so amusing? Festering about in a canoe while the sun beats mercilsly on my svelt furry bod-ay doesn't seem like a good time to me... oh ya.. and the wind? Come on... you can't seriously think you can fight the WIND do you?
Okay, okay, so, I'll tell ya.
Last weekend (I call it that cuz mum stays home for a whole day, perhaps 2) .. we went on a long canoe ride, that was the worst of it, I'll tell ya the best... the DRIVE from home to Devon. I got to wear my cool dude shades.... and, had my fur blowing in the wind out the bus window. People in cars were honking and waving cuz i'm such a hottie...(specially since my shades had flames on dem) yeaaahhhh baby!
After the bus ride, we picked out a canoe, of course, it was like the only one that was like, not plastic... aluminum i heard mum say.. ya.. you know.. like .. heavy ... but, the guy said it would be faster and lighter than the plastic canoes.. sure, sure....
So, anyway, we started WAY later than everyone else... because they had to remove some wooden bars from the front of the canoe.. tighten bolts etc.. you know.. the usual.. the guy mentioned he'd just bought the canoe.. me and mum were thinking.. boy.. you better have tested this thing out tooo...but, she didn't ask...
Blah blah blah.. seven hours later, after helping a guy who'd flipped his canoe, we ended up back at the zoo...
and, mum's arms were so sore, she could hardly drive home.. I did my best to make her feel better by standing on her arm, in my usual driving position... she didn't seem to mind...who knows, maybe it was a massage.. get over it!!!.. LOL...
When we got home, mum had a bath.. for like an hour!! What the heck am i supposed to do other than sleep... then when she got out.. she laid in the bed.. and didn't move. I thot she was dead!!!... I kept poking her with my wee black nose to see if she was alive... she was...and I was happy... cuz wow.. who'd feed me then!!?!?!
My fur was a bit messed up because of the wind... 30-40 km... with gusts to 70... heard that 50 was bad... but, none of us knew what was in store when we started.
I also saw a beaver... nearly jumped in the water to get him (note my previous blog about the beaver) .. but, mum's friend Kelly caught me before I hit the water... ggrrrr.... next time.. beaver.. YOU'RE MINE!!!
Although, maybe I will make the Beaver my friend... he does a lot for Elk Island Park apparently... and, to quote Lincoln: Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them?
ARF to that!
